An update about our response to the coronavirus
[We made the decision to close on March 14, unaware that a Bay Area shelter-in-place lockdown would be announced the following week. This is what we wrote then about our decision to close the store to the public.]
Due to the unprecedented nature of the coronavirus outbreak, we are closing the store to the public starting on Monday, March 16. We will reopen to the public when we are given the all clear.
This is a very difficult decision to make, as small businesses will be drastically affected by loss of steady income, but we feel it is the correct choice to make given the risks COVID-19 presents to vulnerable members of our community and the potential for the virus to overwhelm our healthcare system. All of our scheduled events through the end of April have been postponed.
Our online store is open for business and we are offering a reduced rate on media mail shipping. If you are looking to support the store during this time, we please consider opening a Community Supported Bookstore account, purchasing gift certificates for later use, and of course, buying books: visit our staff favorites, recommended preorders, highlights of new releases in the store, or search the site for specific books. We appreciate any support to help see us through this uncertain time.
Contact us by phone (415-663-1542) or by email (firstname.lastname@example.org) with any questions.
In the meantime, please follow us on Instagram (@pointreyesbooks), Facebook, or Twitter (@pointreyesbooks) for updates and virtual author events, book clubs, and other features to help keep us all connected in these unsettling times.
Thank you for supporting independently owned businesses. We hope everyone stays safe and healthy.
Take good care,
Molly and Stephen
