A Silent auction to benefit GRO’s Artists in the Schools Program

The Wild Book Show was created by Steve Costa and Kate Levinson 2003. The handmade books were exhibited each year at Point Reyes Books until the exhibition outgrew the bookstore. The exhibition is now held down the street Gallery Route One, Artists are invited to create their wildest books and encouraged to use materials from the “wilds” of Point Reyes. The books are sold in a silent auction, with proceeds benefiting Artists in the Schools, which brings artists and writers together with local scientists to focus on environmental studies. Students take field trips to beaches and creeks in the National Seashore, and visit local ranches where they create artwork, take photographs, and write poetry as they learn about the natural world. Each June the public is invited to see the students’ work in a multi-media installation at Toby’s Feed Barn gallery.
