Martin Shaw Storytelling Course
*** January weekend is full ***
THE SNOWY LIONS OF LANGUAGE: Love, Trouble and the Myth World
with storyteller and mythologist Martin Shaw
This winter retreat offers a great feast of stories exploring the complexities that life offers us. From Indigenous Trickster stories to the great European romance of 'Tristan and Isolde', we will gather round the story - fire in the old way and take its affirming, playful heat into our tired bones. Themes include: the value of longing and the trance of disappointment/ creating a Culture of Wildness/ wrestling the paradox of romantic and earthly love/ reclaiming mythic territory/ the addiction to Severance/ Taking the road of the Crow.
Supported by the creation and discipline of poetry we will also gaze out into the living world - to celebrate the seasonal impulse to incubate and dream. Martin will offer ancient bardic techniques for approaching the wild - that are both pragmatic and mystical. These weekends are intense, humorous, creative, and are a true invitation to work the ground of the soul. To get a further sense of Martin's work please go to www.schoolofmyth.com and follow his weekly diary at the same site.
